Sand and Salt Storage Facility Program  

Sand and Salt Storage Facility, Conesville, New York

Under the memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between New York City and upstate communities in the west of Hudson watershed, Lamont Engineers provided several communities with engineering and construction phase services for the construction of their sand and salt storage facilities.  Each facility required an analysis of material usage to evaluate the size of structure required as well as construction observations and project management.  Engineering services were provided for the following phases of the project:  

• Annual Material Usage Calculations and facility size determinations

• Preliminary Site Investigations in cooperation with NYCDEP and Catskill Watershed Corporation

• Assist communities with land acquisition

• Boundary and topographic surveys

• Project design development and public bidding

• Project coordination with contractors and NYCDEP

• Construction observation

• Design development of erosion and sedimentation control devices
